Our current Recruit Academy started in September 2009. We hope that in the future you will consider becoming a member of our respected organization. We take applications year round and keep those applications for the next recruit class.

Fire FightingDo you feel a need to give back to your community, but are not sure how?  Have you always had an interest in riding in the big red truck, saving property and sometimes even saving lives?

The Durango Fire & Rescue Authority is looking for dedicated Men and Women in our response area to join our team of volunteer firefighters and medics.

 

This is not something to be taken lightly and
this experience will change your life...
as well as possibly save someone else's.

ClimbingPotential members must be 18 years or older and must be in good health.  If you meet these criteria and graduate from our challenging Recruit Academy, DFRA will provide you with health (workers comp) and retirement benefits as well as state of the art protective clothing and equipment.

We are particularly interested in volunteers who live in the following areas:


• Animas Valley North to Coal Bank Pass
• Florida Mesa and the Hwy 550 S corridor
• Hwy 160 from Grandview east
• Hwy 160 west and Wildcat Canyon Rd.

La Plata County, Colorado in the following disciplines:

  • High Angle Rescue
  • Hazardous Materials
